Railway innovations at your fingertips. Łukasiewicz – PIT at the TRAKO trade fair
The TRAKO trade fair is one of the most important events in the railway industry in Europe. Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology took part in this year’s edition, presenting research and technological solutions that support the development of modern rail transport.
At our stand, visitors could see, among other things, a demonstrator of the process of measuring radio emissions from trains. The model prepared by experts from the Laboratory for Rail Vehicles Testing and EMC attracted everyone’s attention.
“At this year’s TRAKO fair, we presented our measurement capabilities in the area of electromagnetic compatibility for both electronic components used in railway equipment and entire rail vehicles. In order to familiarise visitors with the course of such tests, we prepared a 1:81 scale model. With its help, using a logarithmic-periodic antenna, we measure radiated emissions, which are then recorded and presented on the spectrum analyser screen,” explains Krzysztof Sieczkarek, Portfolio Manager.
Guests had the opportunity to talk to experts from the Centre for Modern Mobility and the Łukasiewicz – PIT Laboratory Research Centre about their offer, which includes the design and construction of rail vehicles as well as mechanical, electrical, and environmental testing. Representatives of the new certification company, PIT Certification, and the manufacturing company PIT INDUSTRY were also present at the TRAKO fair.
Our experts also participated in the conference part of the fair. Tomasz Markowski, Director of the Centre for Digital Transformation, spoke at the panel “Presentation of the results of Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking JU partnership projects implemented by the PKP S.A. research and development ecosystem,” presenting the Institute’s experience from the IAM4RAIL and MOTIONAL projects.
